Klumzy Tung – Freestyle Emcee- Lyricist – Singer/Songwriter

Perceptive, quick-witted and versatile, London born lyricist Klumzy Tung combines mind-boggling freestyles with cleverly written, socially conscious songs. The combination of both has enabled him to deliver energetic, positive and unpredictably entertaining live shows, capturing the imagination of audiences in both the UK and internationally.

Klumzy Tung began emceeing to UK Garage in 2000, on London based pirate radio station Life FM 98.10. Since then he has experimented with many genres ranging from Acoustic to Drum ‘n’ Bass, right through to Hip Hop, which he is now more commonly associated with.

He began playing live in 2004 as one half of the musical duo ‘The GobFathers’ alongside 2x UK Beatbox champion Beardyman. Their show consisted of 2 microphones, and the ability to improvise, depending on what the crowd suggested they perform, using only freestyle and beatbox. This type of show allowed Klumzy Tung to develop as a freestyler, always pushing the boundaries.

It was at the 4 Elements Hip Hop Festival in Graz, Austria that he began to play alongside DJ and Producer ‘Mr.Dero’. The result of their successful partnership is the forthcoming EP ‘The Little Things’. Available on Vinyl, CD and digitally on ‘Tiefparterre’ Spring 2009!

His creativity and willingness to test the possibilities of freestyle have seen him co-host ‘The Freestyle Show’ on Sky TV, appearing on Rapture TV, the Tim Shaw Show on Kerrang FM, BBC Radio1 Extra, Pyroradio.com, Knowledge Magazine, DJ Mag, and last year film ‘Web Heroes’ for Channel 4 alongside Beardyman, posing as Traffic Wardens, generally causing havoc with the public using freestyle and beatbox.

2008 saw the invention of the ‘Klumzy Word Generator’ a device that allows the audience to input words (that are unknown to Klumzy) into software, which then randomly appear, projected on to a screen, on stage, for Klumzy to incorporate into live freestyle songs. Off the cuff, on the spot. 

He currently has a hugely successful song on You Tube called ‘Little England’ which has over 100,000 views. This is due for UK release in 2009.

Klumzy Tung can also be found performing as part of the live Hip-Hop/Drum n Bass outfit ‘Stevies Wonder Glasses’, with Mr.Dero on turntables, live improvise drummer Dr.Pheel, and soul queen Farina Miss.

Klumzy Tung has performed on many stages in the UK and around Europe including ‘Cargo’, ‘Carling Academy’ Islington, ‘Carnival Party’ Rijeka, Croatia, ‘Audio’ Brighton, ‘Yo’ in Cologne, Germany, and even freestyle in The House of Commons.

On the way Klumzy has performed alongside artists such as Beardyman, JFB, Ed Solo, Rafik, Kid Fresh, Vadim, Waxolusionists, The Wideboys, Killa Kela, DJ Beware. DJ Phatt, Professor Green, Future Prophecies, Jungle Drummer & DJ Fu, Timmy Magic, DJ Flip, DJ Skully, Rob Da Bank (BBCRadio 1), Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee, Trojan Sound System, ClayPigeon, Reeps One, Skrein, MC Theme, Melise and many more.

Klumzy Tung also hosts his own eclectic music night ‘Bring Your Mum’ in West London, as well as co-hosting the groundbreaking spectacular that is ‘Battlejam’ alongside ‘Beardyman’, 2007 UK DMC Champion ‘JFB’ and ‘Ed Solo’. He is also a regular emcee at ‘ButterBar’ in Graz.

2009 promises to be an exciting year with the release of ‘The Little Things EP’ with remixes by Vadim, J-Star, Beardyman, Jfb, and Amtrak, and the ‘Little England’ single, as well as the completion of his eagerly awaited debut album.
